FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
EDITOR-IN-CHIEF HONORED FOR CONTRIBUTIONS TO ART COMMUNITY Laguna Hills, CA – March 19, 2009 – Since 2005, the Life Through Art Foundation, which funds educational opportunities in the arts for underprivileged students and artists through field trips, mentorships and other programs, has honored artists and celebrities who have made a difference in the art community at their annual Gala event. This year’s honoree was Jenny Doh, Stampington & Company’s Editor-in-Chief and Director of Publishing. The foundation focuses on the healing power of the arts, and seeks to provide educational experiences for children interested in theatre, visual arts, creative writing, dance, music, film studies, culinary arts, and more. Jenny Doh heads Somerset Studio — the mixed-media publication ranked #1 in its category by Barnes & Noble — as well as the popular art-to-wear magazine, Belle Armoire, and is also Director of Publishing for Stampington & Company. In 2009, she will oversee and direct the launching of several new titles including Art Quilting Studio, apron•ology, Art Journaling, and GreenCraft Magazine. Doh received her bachelor’s degree from UC Irvine and master’s degree from UCLA. Aside from working and spending time with her family, Jenny is active in the arts and volunteers for her alma mater as President of the UC Irvine Alumni Association. “Years ago when I changed my career from social work to art magazines, I didn't realize then what I know now – that the arts is in many ways also a helping profession. Every day I receive letters from people from around the globe who say that the art they see in the pages of our magazines have changed their lives for good,” says Jenny Doh. “Art helps people out of depression, comforts people through tragedies and inspires and unleashes the potential of our children. I consider myself lucky to be involved in a field that has such a profound capacity to help.” To learn more about the Life Through Art Foundation, visit www.ltaf.org.
