The Birds Revisited, Hitchcock Honored in Halloween Issue of Somerset Studio
Laguna Hills, CA, September 1, 2011 - Fans of the late, great Alfred Hitchcock have a real treat in store for them when the Halloween-themed September/October issue of Somerset Studio hits the newsstands chock full of artwork inspired by the acclaimed director and Master of Suspense himself. Amongst the spooky eye candy is a visually-stirring evidence journal created by American actress and book author Angela Cartwright that incorporates real ephemera from when her older sister Veronica starred as Cathy Brenner in The Birds. “When I heard Stampington & Company was giving a nod to the great Hitchcock in this issue of Somerset Studio, I could not resist. I knew my sister still has her original script, and I called her to see if I could borrow and scan portions of it,” said Angela. “I didn’t know how I was going to incorporate it into a project and capture the essence of the film, but I welcomed the challenge.” Included in the beautiful evidence journal that came to be, is a transparency of a drawing that Hitchcock had given to Veronica for her 13th birthday of his famous profile and autograph, unforgettable excerpts with parts of the dialog from the script, altered photographs from the film, an invitation to a museum event honoring the suspense legend, a baby photo of their younger brother Christopher when he visited Veronica on the set of The Birds, and much more. “Whenever we issue a challenge to our readers, we always hope it will speak to them in some way,” commented Christen Olivarez, Stampington & Company’s Director of Publishing. “This wonderful tribute to Hitchcock and The Birds was more than we ever expected, and I’m so excited for our readers to see this!” The completed evidence journal already has a hearty stamp of approval from Veronica. “When she reached the last page she looked at me and said, ‘This will make a very nice present for you to give me’,” said Angela. The September/October 2011 issue will be available on newsstands or directly from Stampington & Company at www.stampington.com or by calling 1-877-STAMPER.
