Art Quilting Studio Magazine Relaunches with Summer 2011 Issue

The award-winning publication that explores the heart and soul of art quilting returns
as a semiannual publication in June of 2011 with new editorial sections and a fresh dose of inspiration.

Laguna Hills, CA, May 18, 2011--Art Quilting Studio, published by Stampington & Company, is returning as a semiannual publication with the Summer 2011 issue and will be available on newsstands beginning June 1, 2011. Much like its previous incarnation, the 144-page revived edition of Art Quilting Studio will showcase a variety of stunning art quilts, as well as the techniques and inspirational stories behind each respective piece of artwork.

"After making the decision to stop production on Art Quilting Studio, we missed having a place for the phenomenal quilting artists out there," said Senior Managing Editor Amanda Crabtree. “There was such strong artwork and such talented artists in the previous issues of Art Quilting Studio, and so many more talented art quilters that hadn't had a chance to be published yet, that we decided we needed to keep a place where they could share their technique and inspiration behind their fabulous art quilts."

"The magazine will remain true to its roots of exploring and extracting the soul of art quilting, while presenting innovative pieces in a way that makes them both accessible and stimulating to veteran and novice quilters alike," added Kellene Giloff, Stampington & Company's President and Publisher. “We’re keeping many of the popular editorial departments, but we’re also adding a fun new section, the Series Showcase, that will enable readers to dig deep and immerse themselves in the artistic portfolios of their favorite quilters."

The June 2011 issue marks the return of both established quilters and newly published quilters from around the world. Readers can look forward to feature articles on working with disperse dyes to create prairie landscapes, experimenting with the traditional log cabin—quilt style, incorporating calligraphy and lettering on art quilts, and much, much more. “We really tried to step it up with regard to the stories and the quilts and the artists that are featured in this issue, and I can’t wait for our readers to see it!
