Summer Memories Board Book By Vanessa Spencer | |||||||

Dimensional board books (5EC-03162) are great because when you add embellishments to the pages the book doesn’t tend to “bow” like other board books would. Each page has a spacer with allows room in between pages to add dimensional embellishments. I began by making color photo copies of vintage French paper. I then cut down the pages to fit the board book (5EC-03162) and glued them on with collage pauge (5DU-MATTE16). Once each page had dried I painted over the pages again with Collage Pauge (5DU-MATTE16) to help protect and seal the paper. To decorate the front of the book I first painted a rectangular shape on the center of the cover with white acrylic paint (5EC-01009). When the paint had dried I stamped the Britannia image (P2251) using brown ink (5TH-TIM19534) onto the center of the painted white area. I then painted around the edge of the stamped image with white crackle paint (5RR-TDC24521). I glued three starfish embellishments (5US-21932) to the bottom left corner of the stamped image using Judikins DG3 art gel as the adhesive. For the inside pages I decided to keep it very simple (sometimes less is more). I had some of my favorite summer, beach-themed photographs printed in a sepia tone to compliment the vintage style of the papers. I cut down each photograph to 4”x4” and matted them onto black cardstock that was cut down to 4 ½” x 4 ½”. I glued all the pictures into the book and then added some very simple white embellishments by Melissa Frances. |
