If you haven’t yet tried using Walnut Ink Crystals (5TS-WALNUT001) then this project will surely inspire you to! You can easily create your own grubby, aged looking tags in no time. I suggest creating a large quantity when you try this because you can then have plenty on hand so that you can grab one easily when you need to add a special touch to a gift or project. When you mix the walnut ink solution you will have enough to create a number of projects so make it worthwhile and crank out as many tags as you can. When I created my grubby tags I made at least 30 of them.
Start with some precut white tags. First stamp your plain tags with the desired images. The stamps I used are listed below. I almost always use StazOn ink. After you have stamped your image, crumple you tags up as shown in the pictures below and then flatten the tags out. Follow the instructions on the back of the jar of Walnut Ink Crystals to make the desired amount of solution. Saturate each tag in the solution then hold the tag upright and allow as much solution as possible to drip off. Then either lay your tags on a tray at an angle or hang them on a line of string to dry. Once they have dried, add some ribbon through the punched holes and add some simple embellishments if desired. For a creative gift idea, try stamping the same image that you used on the tag onto a natural cotton bag, and then tie the tag to the bag. |
