Cover an Oval Victorian Cage (5HC904) with Gesso (5GO-3550) and allow to dry.

Apply 2-3 coats of Pitch Black acrylic paint (5AA-AED22688). Cut down a Styrofoam or paper cup, and cover with Pitch Black paint.

Once the cage is dry, tie small skeletons onto the outside and onto the perch using natural rope or twine.

Carefully place a small chunk of dry ice into the cup along with warm water, and place inside of the cage for a spooky, smoky centerpiece for your Halloween table!

Rustic Cage Project Main Image

Rustic Birdcage
by Sarah Meehan

Begin by coating the wire birdcage (5HC904) with a thin, irregular layer of acrylic paint in Snow Cap (5AA-ALD22671), leaving the majority of the plain metal exposed.

Once dry, use a dry paintbrush to stipple on Metallic Bronze Lumiere Paint (5JQ-565). Allow to dry thoroughly, then stipple again with a mixture of turquoise acrylic paint and Gesso (5GO-3550).

Repeat the same layering process again to build up a substantial coating over most of the exposed metal.

Once it is dry, use a dry brush to apply a light coating of Gesso (5GO-3550).

Add another layer of scattered bronze and turquoise accents and let dry thoroughly.

Sweet And Simple Birdcage
By Vanessa Spencer

Don’t go to an expensive home décor store for an elegant looking birdcage!  I made this one for my daughter’s bedroom at a fraction of the cost.  Apply 1 coat of white acrylic paint to the birdcage (5HC904) and allow to dry then apply a thick coating of bright pink acrylic paint set aside to dry.  Try using any of our acrylic paints listed below for the same look!
