Guest Artist:
Jan Fox
Never one to sit idle, Jan Fox always is creating something. Whether
it's jewelry, clay dolls, elaborate book boxes, or a hand-stamped
card, Jan always has a project going. Her three dimensional art pieces
warrant second and third looks. Layers, textures and color combine
to achieve fabulous detail, and reveal her love of nature, other cultures
and music.

What
A Doll!
When Catherine Moore began the process of designing her paper dolls
she immersed herself in old texts, toy catalogs, women's periodicals
and transcripts of long ago love letters. What she discovered was a
passion for these paper ornaments and whimsical figures. "I had
the pleasure of handling fragile and beautiful 18th century paper dolls.
I learned that the dolls generally bear names from their period, and
decided to name my designs after my sisters and me."

Vellum
Sticker Stamping
Queen of quick cards, Margaret Gorman has another great idea for putting
together easy greetings in no time flat. To begin you'll need card stock,
shadow stamps, ink, vellum stickers and scissors. Her technique is simple:
layer the vellum stickers over the stamped shadow shapes in pleasing
patterns to create scenes. Here she's chosen some flowers and made bright
bouquets of color. The seaside stickers are collected on sand-colored
backgrounds. Because the stickers are on vellum sheets, they allow the
colored shadow stamps to show through. Margaret likes to layer the stickers
to achieve shadows that add dimension to her final piece.
