Evelyn
Bower uses fabric to weave the story of her family's history. She creates
quilted wall hangings using fabric transfers of family photographs as
well as copies of letters, recipes, licenses, newspaper articles, awards
and artwork. For Evelyn, the greatest challenge was including the names
of her extended family for the George & Ruth quilt, but she cleverly
solved that dilemma by sewing little fabric houses, with doors that
open up to reveal the names of ancestors on each branch and twig of
her family tree. Find out more about her family and her technique in
the Winter 2003 issue of Legacy.
