Here’s an inside peek at just a few of the great articles you’ll find in our inaugural Winter 2003 issue of Legacy:
A Writing Desk and Wedding Tribute
Artist Lynne Perrella has found an unusual way to bring family photographs, vintage linens and other keepsakes out in the open: Copy the images and use them to decorate a romantic writing desk. Her Wedding Tribute features her grandparents' long-ago wedding portrait, silk flowers, buttons and bits of lace.
Scrapbook Challenge
For this issue’s challenge, we invited stamp enthusiast Gaylynn Stringham to create scrapbook pages that are rich in color and texture. Find out how she used stamps, ribbon, metal and other embellishments to create her gorgeous pages.
Trading Memories—The Ancestor Deck
Each card in this one-of-a-kind deck features an artwork that recalls a family member, living or dead. The deck was created as an art exchange by 63 participants who shared stories of their ancestors that are sometimes funny, sometimes sad, and often quite touching. This is the first in our two-part series on the fascinating Ancestor Deck.
Fabulous Forties
Artist Janice Lowry created these collages using vintage wallpaper samples, old magazine cutouts and photos. The result is Janice’s tribute to the art of dressing well, and her mother’s fabulous sense of style.
