Legacy™ - December/January 2005 - Up Close and Personal

Create a Digital Travel Page
In the December/January issue of Legacy™, artist Rhonna Farrer shared her gorgeous digital scrapbook pages ("A Digital View of the World"). Here, she offers a step-by-step guide to how she used Adobe Photoshop to create one of those pages, "Explore."

1
Create a new page>FILE>NEW>name it, size it.
Add image to your page. FILE>OPEN>SELECT>ALL go to edit>COPY
Now in your page, select EDIT>PASTE.
This will be Layer 1.
2
Add the background color.
Select color, use paint bucket tool & fill background layer.

3

Add the patterned paper.
FILE>OPEN>then SELECT>ALL>now EDIT>COPY
Use move tool to position it by the photo.
This will be layer 2.

4
Add new Layer. LAYER>NEW> Select Brush tool. Now 'stamp' design on layer 3 by clicking custom brush. Hold shift key down as you draw a line across the top & bottom of the page.

5
Repeat STEP 4. This time select a custom 'grunge' brush for edges over the paper & photo.
6
Add another layer. At the right side, click on Layers Palette>layer 2. (this is so that the text will appear BEHIND the graphic lines you've created in Layer 3.) Select Type Tool. Type EXPLORE. Select Type Tool again, Type JOURNEY. With Move Tool, position text where you want it.

7
Now, select the top layer in your Layer Palette. Select Type tool again. Type date at top. Select Type tool. Type quote at bottom. Voila! Your masterpiece!
