Anniversary Windmill Card
by Cher B. Lashley
Begin by randomly stamping Wrought Scroll (C8473) from Christine Adolph’s Garden Mélange collection using a duo-toned metallic stamp pad on a somewhat neutral background of cardstock (a photocopied antique ledger page was used for this project). Cut stamped cardstock into banner style triangles, then, ink the edges of three of them with the silver side of the stamp pad. Punch a hole in the upper left quadrant of each.
Using the Design Series Robin Punch (5MG-92080) and Pine Punch (5MG-92086) from McGill, punch out designs using Robin’s Egg Blue cardstock, lavender cardstock and green patterned paper. Mix elements up and glue in various vignettes on the three pages with the Quickie Glue Pinpoint Roller by Sakura (SA38480): for instance, the blue bird and green patterned pine are on the front page. The second page is hosting the negative from the lavender punch that is embellished with more green boughs and a couple of blue flowers and the third page is festooned with the patterned green pine boughs, the lavender bird and three tiny lavender flowers set into the swirls of the previously stamped Wrought Scroll (C8473). For a bit of bling a rectangular and circular Precious Finds - Silver (5EK-SPPF10) were added to the second and third page as shown.
French expressions were added using the Cavallini Bonjour Rubber Stamp set (5CPSTAMP/BONJOU) and a black dye ink pad. Pour Vous (For You) was stamped in the central area just above the punched vignette of the first page. Je ťaime (I love you) is stamped on the negative punch out’s lower right corner on the second page and the third page is centrally stamped with Heureux Anniversaire (Happy Anniversary).
Baby Pink Crushed Velvet ribbon from Maya Road (5MR-CV002) was adhered to the top of the first page using the 6mm width of glue tape from the Trio Dispenser (5JU-GP016) and a hole was punched through the ribbon in accordance with the previous. A citrine colored brad from the Pastel Grand Princess Brads by Karen Foster (5KF-00093) was inserted through all pages and a found glittered leaf was added as the final embellishment.

The Wall
by Cher B. Lashley
Choose the Maya Road Chipboard Scrolls (5MR-C016) and Chipboard Frames (5MR-C002) that will be pertinent for the embellishments of your design and paint them using Acrylic Paint Dabber - Pitch Black (5AA-AED22688). After the chipboard pieces have dried, apply a very light coat of varnish or soft gel medium to cut down on the matte look of the black paint. Using black ink, stamp three images from Lynn Perrella’s new stamp line onto vintage ledger paper: images used for this design include Emergence (P2224), Botanica (P2222) and Back, Once More (P2229), then, cut and fit inside of frames.
Cut a piece of Tack 'N Peel (5TS-TP-000-01) to fit onto a brayer, then, mount onto the brayer pressing evenly as you turn. Cut as many strands of fiber to wrap around the brayer as you please and mount onto the Tack and Peel by gently squeezing them to the brayer. Squeeze out a line of Making Memories Daiquiri blue paint from the Sherbet Scrapbook Colors Kit (5MA-23675) and lightly roll the fibered brayer through the paint a couple of times to distribute the paint evenly. (TIP: It is a good idea to then roll the paint filled brayer across a paper towel to get rid of any globs of paint that may be on it if you don’t desire a heavy application of paint.) Using the ‘Railway Journal’ paper from the Beacon Hill Collection (5DD-BEACON) as your substrate, roll the brayer over the paper, refilling as necessary for the amount of paint you desire on the design. (TIP: Make only one pass then lift the brayer so as not to muddy the paint design) Remove fibers and rinse the Tack and Peel thoroughly under warm water. Allow this and each succeeding layer of paint and/or ink to dry thoroughly before moving on to the next layer.
Using either a stencil or the negative space from a chipboard frame after punching out chipboard alphabets, sponge Golden - Gesso (5GO-3550) lightly through to the paper below. Remove the cleaned square of Tack and Peel from the brayer and apply it to an acrylic mounting block. Cut a piece of any type of mesh and press to the tacky surface. Lightly load the mesh with black ink (preferably from a drier ink pad) and stamp onto paper. Reload with the same ink, then, lay the acrylic block upon your work surface inked side up. Now lay the designed area of your paper over top the inked mesh and rub with your hand to get more of the center of the block. Follow both of these procedures until you have sufficiently layered the ink over the paint and gesso layers. Heavily ink the edges of the paper with black ink.
Apply the scrolls and framed stamped images as shown. Using alphabet rub-ons and/or flourishes, apply a title to the lower left corner for balance. |
