| COVER ARTIST: Jenny Doh |
Our bright and beautiful cover piece was created by Stampington & Company’s own Director of Publishing, Jenny Doh. Her “Stylin’ Susan” embodies Somerset Home’s spirit: a household item that is not only functional, but also makes an artistic statement. Jenny found the original Lazy Susan at IKEA and creatively embellished it to match her black, white and red ’50s diner style kitchen. The combination of the piece’s fabulous red flourished contact paper paired with the photo stylist’s choice of blue accents made a cheerful and stunning photo that would eventually become the cover shot. Q: What was your reaction to learning you were going to be a cover artist?
I was thrilled. I’ve never had my art on a cover before and so now I understand the thrill that our artists feel when something you make gets selected for such a prime spot. I really hadn’t made it with the hopes of it being selected for cover, though. Although I had made the project simply to help support the publication, I had no idea that it would get the prime spot! |  |

Q: Where do you get most of your artistic inspiration?
Works that are minimalist in style. |

Q: How long have you been creating art?
Always. It’s always been a part of who I am, ever since childhood. |

Q: What's your favorite medium?
Yarn. I love to knit. |

Q: Why is making “home” art important to you?
Well, I do like it when what I make can be enjoyed by those I love most: my family. And making art for the home accomplishes just that. |

Q: What advice would you give to an artist intimidated to submit artwork?
Life is short. Just go for it. If it doesn’t get selected, don’t take it personally. Recover and move forward. |

Q: What projects are you currently working on?
Art quilts, knitted socks, crocheted necklaces |

Q: Besides your art, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I like working on my blog, knitting, going to the gym, hanging with my family, and volunteering for my alma mater: UC Irvine. |
