Seize the Day Love the Moments by Kristen Robinson
A piece of our own artwork is always an exceptional addition to our creative space, one most of us do not indulge in, but should. With whimsical stamps by Catherine Moore of Character Constructions and Royal Brads and Embellishments by Creative Imaginations this is not hard to accomplish in a couple of hours.
Begin with a piece of chipboard, cardboard or canvas measuring 9" x 12". At bottom cut 1" using either deco scissors or scallop blade. With crème acrylic paint, paint your background. Once dry add layers of vintage French clip art, and vintage wallpaper as well as vintage music sheets. Continue adding layers of paper to background until the result is what you desire.
Using Onyx Black Versa Fine ink by Tsukinedo, stamp your images by Character Constructions — Mad Tea Party No. 2 onto crème cardstock. Cut out all doll parts assembling skirt and torso. Glue the legs onto the background positioned in the middle of your piece. To the back of your figure (skirt and torso) glue an old pencil or piece of dowel to stabilize, set aside to dry.
Once everything has dried glue the figure onto the background, additional of foam (from a kneeling pad) are a great item used to stabilize the piece. To the front of the figure add pink tulle and satin ribbon. To the head of your figure add crown brad by Creative Imaginations.
To the right side of your background add an additional strip of vintage paper that has been adorned with a Fleur de Lis brads from the Royalty Embellishments (5CI-18831) by Creative Imaginations. To the front of your figure add Carpe Diem scroll (5CI-18821) to the skirt also by Creative Imaginations. Punch holes to both sides at the top of your piece and run three strips of ribbon through them. As a final touch add remaining brads and stamped images to small tags and hang from ribbon. You are now ready to hang your piece and enjoy — Carpe Diem my friends!
Start by choosing a piece of artist's paper from Catherine Moore's Historie Naturelle Papers (5CC-HNC01) as the background: in this case Plate VI eggs on script background. Tea dye a manila folder by brewing a strong tea, pour into the bottom of a broiler pan and add half of a regular sized office manila folder: allow to soak until it has reached the color you desire. This is usually between ten and fifteen minutes. Remove folder from tea bath and air dry on a rack or paper toweling. Cut out a small bird from one of the papers in the collection and set aside.
Stamp woman's torso and arms from French Laundry Plate #11 (5CC-FL11), as well as, the roots and trunk from the tree stamp on Nature Study Plate #1 (5CC-NS01), onto the tea dyed manila folder and cut out. Stamp this same torso image onto another color of paper, in this case light blue and just cut out the bow and shirt. Affix the bow and shirt to the tea dyed image and set aside. Stamp the nest onto vintage ledger paper and, again, onto another piece of the artist's paper which features eggs the same color as your background paper. Cut out the entire ledger paper nest without the overhanging twigs and just the inside egg area of the other, then, glue the egg area to the ledger nest in the appropriate place.
After deciding the placement of your figure on the background paper, glue the stump/roots image into place, then, stamp the nest in the appropriate area: glue the cut out nest over the stamped image lining up the overhanging twigs. Glue the torso onto the paper and over the top part of the nest. Arrange the arms so that the cut out bird will be cradled in the hands and glue all down.
