Materials
3" X 3" pad of post-it notes.
HINT: To save money on post-it pads if you're making several at a time,
divide a pad in two and place one section on each side of the inside
covers (see sample).
Uhu glue stick, Yes paste, or thinned-down PVA
Posterboard (the thinner stuff for inside): 3-1/4" X 3-1/4"
(cut two)
Matboard (the thicker stuff for outside): 3-1/2" X 3-1/2"
(cut two)
Inside paper: 4-1/4" X 4-1/4" (cut two) ? Outside paper:
3" X 4-1/2" (cut two)
Outside spine paper : 2-3/4" X 4-1/2" (cut one)
Inside spine paper: l-1/2" X 3-1/4" (cut one) HINT:
Strong rag paper, Tyvek, or book cloth work well for spine paper.
Directions
Apply glue to the outside spine paper (or book cloth) and press to matboard
leaving a half-inch space between the boards. Smooth surfaces with a
bone folder (Figures 1 & 2).
Apply glue to the
inside spine paper (or book cloth), press into place on top of the glued-down
outside spine (Figure 3).
Apply glue to the
backs of the matboards; adhere outside paper. The edge of the paper
just overlaps the outside spine. Cut paper corners diagonally.
Apply glue to the
paper and wrap the edges around the board, smoothing them with a bone
folder. Dry under a weight if necessary (Figure 4).
Apply glue to the
backs of the posterboards; adhere inside paper. Cut paper corners diagonally.
Apply glue to the
paper edges and wrap around the boards, smooth with a bone folder. Dry
under a weight if necessary (Figures 5-6).
Apply glue to backs
of inside boards; adhere inside boards to outside boards. Smooth with
a bone folder, and allow to dry under weights. (Figure 7).
After the boards
are completely dry, install post-it note pad using double-sided tape,
glue, or other adhesive (Figure 8).
