The Spring 2007 issue of Art Doll Quarterly has rolled off the press and is available on newsstands now! Inside, you’ll find:
Doll Artist Profile subject Adele Sciortino was trying to find a media that could work with all the fine arts techniques she had learned over the years. After taking an online doll-making class, she realized she truly had found her calling in the figurative arts.
Leslie Bailey took up polymer clay just a couple of years ago but wields the medium like a pro, as seen in her highly detailed and expressive fairy figures and woodland characters. Often, she displays her dolls in imaginative forest scenes.

Terri Moisan’s “All That I Am” carries weighty messages of self-esteem and self-knowledge. Terri started with a simple papier-mâché gourd, making it a canvas for paint, fabric, thread and bead embellishment.
Chocolat! by Mary Wiggins takes the stage in candy wrapper petticoats, pantaloons and garter belt. That’s right, candy wrappers! You have to use what you have on hand, says the artist.
Ready to sigh “awwwww ... ” and get all mushy inside? Anyone with a heart beating inside her chest can’t avoid melting at the sight of Karen O’Brien’s artful teddy bears made with mohair, dressed in vintage doll dresses and stuffed with love.
Shelly Lampshire got so frustrated when some of her polymer clay dolls broke during shipping that she began experimenting. Now she makes articulated hands and feet for her whimsical creations.

Doll artist, pattern maker and popular instructor Gloria “Mimi” Winer came up with new techniques in creating a collection of elegant, wire-armature, fabric-sculpted mermaid dolls.
