Lightly sand and distress clipboard. Apply four or five coats of brown, gold, and bronze paint to the silver clip, distressing between coats. Dab with a sponge to mottle the paints. Let dry. Slightly rub random strokes of paints on the board. Tear pieces of Paris paper (Tim Holtz) and glue to the clipboard. Adhere a piece of lace to the left side. Tear a corner piece of the Paris paper and adhere to the right bottom to form a pocket. Tear a long piece of paper to form another pocket and affix to the bottom of the board. Cut a small rectangle from cardstock. Adhere a Paris logo. Affix four brads at each corner of the rectangle. Glue to the bottom pocket. Attach a keyhole disc to a bottle cap (both from Design Original). Glue to the top of the corner pocket. To make a booklet, cut three pieces of Paris paper to form booklet pages. Affix images if desired. Cover the spine with corrugated paper. Make a message holder from a cigar tube. Remove the cedar from a cigar tube. Glue carefully to the outside of the tube. Affix an ancestor initial for decoration. Wrap top and bottom with several strands of raffia. Distress the cedar with inks. Insert a message inside the tube. Wrap a thin fiber to the tube. Attach it to the hole at the top of the clip. Cut a small piece of faux leather and insert eyelets. String a 12" piece of fiber under the leather strip. Glue to the board. Attach fibers and key to the top of the clip. Age photographs by tearing and inking.
In Legacy's February/March 2006 issue, on page 108, we omitted the sample instruction for Belinda Spiwak’s "Memories Clipboard" (shown on page 88). The sample instruction should have read as follows:

Tear pieces of background paper. Adhere the pieces to a clipboard using an old brush and Mod Podge. Dry thoroughly. Apply gesso using a dry rag. Drag across the papers allowing the images to be seen. Dry. Using Crackle (Delta Ceramcoat) and a 1? brush, spread Crackle on the board in an even layer. Let dry for 15 minutes. Once it is tacky to the touch, paint over with Eggshell White using a brush. Dry completely. Repeat on the back. Set aside. Apply a thin coat of Vaseline on the desired areas of Plexiglas using a finger. Paint over the entire surface with Eggshell White. Let dry completely. When dry, gently wipe off the Vaseline areas with a wet wipe or paper towel. Let dry. Adhere a photograph behind the Plexiglas with a little glue. To age the edges of the Plexiglas, use a small flat brush and Antique White paint and brush inward. Let dry. Distress with Vintage Photo Distress inkpad on all four sides. Apply Black Soot Distress inkpad to the edges alone. Wipe off the excess with a rag. Let dry. Position the Plexiglas on the clipboard and adhere two Asian word stickers (Stick-a-Bilities by Paper Studio), as shown. Flatten three bottlecaps with a mallet. Paint the caps with Eggshell White paint. Cut out collage images. Wipe a little gesso on each image with a finger. Wipe with a rag so the faces show. Let dry and attach to the caps. Affix the caps to the board. Cut out a small strip of fabric and glue to the bottom of the picture. Add words over the strip of fabric. Attach beads to a piece of fiber and attach to the clip. Add various fibers and ribbons. |
