National Geographic “Prints” with Citra Solv!
Cover your table with newspaper...this gets messy!
Technique 1
Trying tearing out the pages and spraying with Citra Solv for interesting effects! Choose a design you like and tear the page out of the magazine. Spray or paint it generously with the Citra Solv then crunch the sheet up. Leave it for approx. 5 minutes and then flatten the sheet out. If the effect isn’t as dramatic as you want it just repeat the same steps.
Technique 2
Keep the magazine intact and Brush or spray all the pages in the magazine with Citra Solv. Squish closed and wait 10-15 minutes. Squish again…icky black ink will come out. Mop up with paper towels. Tear out the pages which will be weird and wonderful. No original image will remain, just cool shapes, colors and designs! You can use these papers for collage or paint back into them with acrylic paints and inks and gel pens. You can remove more ink with a Q-tip coated with Citrasolv to create faces, clouds, waterfalls etc.
Image Transfers with Citra Solv
Citra Solv
Transfers onto paper, vellum, acetate, faux suede, metal, fabric and more! Laser prints work best when transferring an image with Citra Solv. Place the image face down onto the surface you are transferring it onto. Tape it in a few places to prevent the image from moving when you start burnishing it. Apply the Citra Solv using either a cotton wool ball or foam brush. Using a burnishing tool (bone folder, metal spoon or brayer) to burnish the image onto the surface. Gently reapply some Citra Solv to areas that might need some “extra” burnishing. Once the image has been transferred allow the surface to dry. Finish off your piece by adding touches with ink, colored pencils, paints or pastels. Please note – if transferring onto fabric, the tighter the weave of the fabric the better the transfer.
