The fly canvas project by Melody Ross features the Chip Art collection! Melody’s project was created by using recycled packing materials to create the “canvas.” The background was painted with yellow paint and then distressed with brown paint. Melody altered the chipboard embellishments using the birds and medium plaques chipboard (5GC-0543 & 5GC-0551) and using the chip art technique explained below. To create the distressed "faux leather" look with your chip art projects follow these simple steps:
1 - Spray the chipboard lightly with water or alternatively use a foam brush to lightly coat the chipboard with water.
2 - Use the Chip Art products to stamp designs onto the chipboard. Allow to dry.
3 - Paint the chipboard with the color that you choose to be the "background" color. Allow to dry.
4 - Create a mixture of the secondary paint color and glaze. (Mod Podge works great!)
5- Paint the glaze/paint mixture over the chipboard and then gently wipe off.

Tips:
1- The background paint color doesn't have to be a single color; try using various colors for a unique look.
2- To speed up the drying process when creating Chip Art projects trying using the Coloriser Heat tool (5EK-EKHG01 - DISCONTINUED).
3- The Chip Art stamps and tools are designed to be used with the Chip Art chipboard but will work with other various types of chipboard. The quality of the effect will vary with different brands.
